Kapibara Wedding Cake By Midnight Baker

Roughly 6 months have already past since our wedding and I haven't really posted much about it. Since I was busy moving back to Singapore, my graduation and settling back in and going back to the workforce.

The wedding cake has been a long tradition which is still practised today. In the past, it is said that the cake will bring good fortune and luck to the couple and their guests. The act of cutting the cake together represents the first activity done by the couple after they are married.

For my Singapore wedding, which we went for a rustic natural themed with Kapibaras. We wanted to have a cake that matches the overall feel that we were going for. After much consideration and going through many cake vendors, we decided to approach Midnight Baker to make us the cake that we vision.

Chloe was really helpful and we met up to discuss the cake design. As Kapibara Cake is not common, we had to come out with many pictures and ideas to get to the final result. By showing her some reference photos like the one below to give her a better idea. She is well organized and we communicated thru WhatsApp.

The result we got from her after she presented the drawing and the cake on the day itself was absolutely amazing. The only small detail she messes up was that the bird was white in colour not yellow. We didn't mind that at all as the whole cake was done beautifully and we love it.

The idea of the arch was way better than the name stand that my mom was suggesting. It made the whole cake looks in theme with the flowers and greens. And this whole cake is edible! Is not some plastic or cardboard cake that you paid hundreds for and not eat it in the end! (or worse, an edible cake which you cannot eat... That doesn't make sense to me but it does happen) I still cannot get over the fact that people can pay so much for a non-edible cake which is probably going to cost around or even more than an edible cake. (This is also the same for Japan, and is even worse there)

We also choose 3 different flavours for each tier so that we can have a wide selection for the quest (and our selves)

The top tier: Pandan Gula Melaka
Second tier:  Earl Grey Lavender
Third tier: Valrhona Chocolate

At the at of the wedding, The Pandan Gula Melaka cake was the first to finish probably due to the size. So we didn't manage to try that. However, the other two flavours were delicious and we loved it. I was really happy that we managed to eat some before they cleared it up.

Many of our guests gave high praises for the cake and said that it looks really cute! I'm truly happy that this cake turn out the way we wanted it to be and it will forever be in our hearts as our Kapibara wedding cake~

There were two photographers on that day, so some of the photos make give different feelings.
