Where to find Good Hot Chocolate in Singapore (Part 2)

Never knew that so many people love hot chocolate as much as I do! With so many views of my previous post, I've decided to post more hot chocolate I have tasted this winter break in Singapore. With only a month back home, I took my chances whenever I can and sit down with a cup of hot chocolate and a book. Some of the places took me by surprise with extra toppings and beautiful art.

To make it easier for all my readers and myself next time, I will probably combine all of them into a master post so that it will be easier to find. Once I have part 3 or so!

Now let get on with the next batch of Hot Chocolate in Singapore!

Pacamara - Boutique Coffee Roaster

 Hot Chocolate - 5.5 Sgd
⭐⭐⭐⭐

Just at the corner where many cafes and restaurant is located on Upper Thomas road, Pacamara stand out with its huge windows and white washed design. Specialize in Coffee, I went in and ordered their hot chocolate and a toast with eggs set.

The hot chocolate came with a beautiful swan art in a standard coffee cup. The ratio of milk and chocolate was perfect and it seems that they didn't just use normal cocoa powder or chocolate syrup. It was not overly foamy and had a smooth texture.

Common Ground

Swiss Pure Chocolate - 5 Sgd
⭐⭐⭐

Well known to the locals in the area, Common ground is a MUIS certified halal outlet. At Tampines Hub, the common ground is split into 2 different areas. One is the restaurant and the other is the dessert cafe. (even though they were side by side, there is 2 different entrances)

The hot chocolate that came in a cute pastel purple cup had way more foam, then the others I tried. With the thick foam on the top, it was not as smooth as the other drinks. The thick foam made it harder to drink, and it felt like a beer instead. It was also stated that their chocolate is only made from swiss! However, the texture is not as smooth like the other 5 star hot chocolates.

Privé

Chocolate - 6 Sgd
⭐⭐⭐

An Outdoor cafe that is located in Chijmes. Prive is bustling with a crowd on a weekend with everyone coming over for their all day breakfast menu. To pair with the all American breakfast set, I ordered the hot chocolate to complete my meal.

It came in a typical latte cup which you can see the ratio of the drink clearly. This cup of hot chocolate has more milk to chocolate ratio and it was more like a hot chocolate latte instead. With the chocolate cookie on the side and the heavy all American breakfast, the lighter hot chocolate does give a better balance instead a heavier punch.

Patties & Wiches

Chocolate - 5 Sgd
⭐⭐⭐

From the people who open Ginza Kuroson, Patties & wishes is their cafe that is located on the 3rd floor of Takashimaya. From just the name of the cafe tells you the main highlight of their menu - the burgers and sandwiches.

The hot chocolate tasted like a usual cup that you probably can get anywhere else. To me, it was a bit too sweet, even thought there was no topping of cream or marshmallow. Even thought I can tell that it was a good milk ratio, is either the chocolate or additional sugar that made it that way.

Clinton Street Baking Co. & Restaurant

Hot Chocolate - 5 Sgd
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

All the way from New York City, the Clinton Street Baking company & restaurant has finally landed in Singapore! With pancakes and chicken & waffles as their headlines, this was one place I that scream American breakfast!

Their hot chocolate came in their own branded mug and is topped off with whipped cream! (Didn't see this topping for quite some time) The cup of chocolate was one of the best I drank this break and I was trying my best to savour it till the last drop. The thickness was one that can compete with other 5 star hot chocolate.
image : Do note is that because of the cream, it can get too sweet. Do tell them to opt it out if you do not like cream!

Craftsmen Specialty Coffee

Hot Chocolate (Valrhona) - 6 Sgd
⭐⭐⭐

One of the popular hipster cafe in Singapore with several outlets across Singapore. With a retro industrial look, this cafe is well known for their different selections of coffee and brunch which includes waffles!

Their hot chocolate took me by surprise with mini marshmallow on the side. With that addition, it made it look fun and you can add it into your cup at any time or just eat it just like that. The chocolate used in their drink is definitely different from the average kind you can get from a random store.

One Fullerton - The Courtyard

Hot Chocolate
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Not like the rest, this one is located in a hotel and was ordered when I was there for high tea. Since all drinks come with the set, I do not have a price for just the hot chocolate. However, it is worthy to be in this list! The hot chocolate made there was really creamy and had a nice texture that is not just made by just pouring milk and cocoa powder.

The Assembly Ground

Hot Chocolate - 6 SGD
⭐⭐⭐

Located on the ground floor of the grand Cathay, this industrial design cafe which is tucked in the corner was open by the The assembly store. With a wide range of mains, dessert and in their menu with a hint of local flavours.

Their hot chocolate looks like a standard cafe staple, however the taste is not average at all. With a good mixture of the milk and cocoa, this hot chocolate puts itself with a 4 star. Not overly chocolate-ty, sweet or too blend with the milk, this is one cup that will satisfy your hot chocolate craving.

Olivia & Co.

Hot Chocolate with mashmallow - 6.5 SGD
⭐⭐⭐

In one of the towers at Suntect City, Olivia & Co stand out on the first floor with an indoor "outdoor" concept. With playful and fun colours in their furniture and decorations, it looks like a fun place to hang out.

Their hot chocolate that came with huge marshmallows, looks heavy from the first look. With just a glance, it looks like a dessert by itself more than a drink. This creamy hot chocolate looks too good to be true in a child's eyes. This will be the perfect cup when is winter, however sadly.. there is no winter in Singapore.
